F1 spike checkpoint: genuine graded comonad — feasibility POSITIVE, coassoc open
Gate F1 of docs/echo-types/earn-back-plan.adoc (the make-or-break gate for earning back the retracted "graded comonad" claim). proofs/agda/EchoGradedComonadF1.agda — typechecks --safe --without-K, ZERO postulates (verified). Monoid-graded iterated-residue candidate: * D r = r nested informative residue layers; D 0 = Id, so D 0 (Echo f y) IS the bare echo (Echo = grade-unit object). * D r is non-collapsing — separating witness D2-nontrivial proves D r is not ⊤/a prop (the old dev's fatal defect). * NESTED comultiplication δ : D (m+n) A → D m (D n A) — the structure the retracted dev never had. * Functor laws (mapD-id/mapD-∘) proven. * counit-right proven (definitional). * counit-left proven (induction on grade; only non-structural tool is ℕ-UIP, which is K-free via decidable equality). DECISIVE FINDING: the make-or-break foundational question is answered NO — Agda demanded no K, no funext, no postulate anywhere. The obstruction F1 feared did not materialise. OPEN (F1 not yet passed): gc-coassoc (coassociativity). Base case + skeleton close; inductive step has an isolated proof-engineering type-mismatch needing an explicit δ-naturality-over-R lemma. Stated in-file as a precise OPEN obligation — NOT postulated, NOT softened, NOT wired into All.agda/Smoke.agda. Per the plan's guardrail: close-but-not-closed = failed-and-logged. No reframed claim moves until F1 fully passes. Checkpoint only. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* *2026-05-18 — F1 feasibility spike run* (`proofs/agda/EchoGradedComonadF1.agda`,
176+
typechecks `--safe --without-K`, *zero postulates*). Result: **F1
177+
NOT YET PASSED, feasibility strongly positive (evidence-based, not
178+
speculative).** The monoid-graded iterated-residue candidate
179+
delivers, mechanised: a non-collapsing graded functor `D` (with a
180+
proven separating witness `D2-nontrivial` — `D r` is not `⊤`/a
181+
prop), functor laws (`mapD-id`/`mapD-∘`), the *nested*
182+
comultiplication `δ : D (m + n) A → D m (D n A)`, and **two of the
183+
three graded-comonad laws proved**: `gc-counit-r` (definitional)
184+
and `gc-counit-l` (by induction on the grade; the only
185+
non-structural tool is ℕ-UIP, which is *K-free* via decidable
186+
equality). The make-or-break foundational question is answered:
187+
Agda demanded **no K, no funext, no postulate** anywhere — the
188+
obstruction this gate feared did *not* materialise. The single
189+
remaining obligation is `gc-coassoc` (coassociativity): its base
190+
case and skeleton close, the inductive step has an isolated
191+
proof-engineering type-mismatch (`m != m + (n + p)`) requiring an
192+
explicit δ-naturality-over-`R` lemma rather than the ad-hoc
193+
`coe-cong-R ∘ sym` push. Stated in-file as a precise OPEN
194+
obligation — *not postulated, not softened*. No reframed claim has
195+
moved (F1 requires all three laws); the gate stays open until
196+
`gc-coassoc` closes `--safe --without-K` zero-postulate.
