[Android] Call to function 'RNMLKitDocumentScanner.launchDocumentScannerAsync' has been rejected

Hi,

There is a native issue sometime with some device. I tracked this error using Sentry and stack trace is the following:

Call to function 'RNMLKitDocumentScanner.launchDocumentScannerAsync' has been rejected.
→ Caused by: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Attempting to launch an unregistered ActivityResultLauncher with contract red.infinite.reactnativemlkit.documentscanner.contracts.DocumentScannerContract@4047e64 and input DocumentScannerContractOptions(options=red.infinite.reactnativemlkit.documentscanner.RNMLKitDocumentScannerOptions@cef827d). You must ensure the ActivityResultLauncher is registered before calling launch()

I'm not an Android developer, so I cannot fix it. Need help please.

Hey @rmarquois - sorry it took a while to get back to you, missed this over the holidays.

Any chance you have a reproduction? Happy to take a look, but I want to make sure we actually fix your issue. A reproducer will help me verify that.

And can you please include what version of RNMLKit you're using, plus the version of Expo you're on?

It happens on Galaxy S10 Tab with Android 16. But I cannot reproduce this error on my test devices.

Expo version: ~54.0.30
RNMLKit: v5

Thanks for the update, @rmarquois. We'll take a look, although without a reproduction it'll be hard to say exactly what the issue is and figure out a solve.

If you can get a reproducer, that'll expedite this. In the meantime, I'll add it to the list to check out.

Also a couple of other questions for you @rmarquois

1. Does it fail on first launch of the scanner, or only after coming back to the app?
2. Does it happen after rotating the device?
3. Is the device in multi-window/split-screen mode?
4. Does putting the app in background for a while before scanning trigger it?

From Sentry event, I can say that it's coming at first call. User goes on screen where is located scan button and when it clicks on, promise is rejected. I will continue investigate it.

I have the same kind of error with Expo ImagePicker:

→ Caused by: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Attempting to launch an unregistered ActivityResultLauncher with contract expo.modules.imagepicker.contracts.ImageLibraryContract@35bce54 and input ImageLibraryContractOptions(options=expo.modules.imagepicker.ImagePickerOptions@feca1fd). You must ensure the ActivityResultLauncher is registered before calling launch()

Same device and same Android version.
Very strange.

Maybe this issue and this PR could help.
I'll post an issue on Expo repository also.

EDIT: there is an existing issue for ImagePicker and this PR fixes it but error appears again sometime with latest Expo SDK.
