Fiz o update agora de todos os meus TC, são 2 de 3ª geração e 1 de 4ª. Ambos estão funcionando muito bem, o problema de reiniciar sozinho parou. To tentando criar uma rotina no meu servidor Linux pra verificar e ativar o SMB nos TC antigos caso eles reiniciem por algum motivo.

Hi,

Installing the software on the Time Capsule (A1470) went without any problems.
tcapsule/doctor shows only PASS and INFO, no errors.
However, when I want to perform a Time Machine backup, it immediately returns with the message: 'Waiting to complete first backup'

Any idea what's going wrong?

Forgot to mention: I can see the disk in the Finder, and I can write and read files to/from it.

This looks like a macOS Time Machine mount-path problem, not a basic TimeCapsuleSMB/Samba failure. Looks like backupd is failing while macOS tries to mount the Bonjour SMB Time Machine destination; doctor does not exercise macOS Time Machine’s root-owned NetworkAuthorization/backupd path.

Most likely:

• macOS has stale Time Machine destination/keychain/server-marker state for the Bonjour URL.
• maybe: a Time Machine-specific edge case around the username with spaces. Finder working makes this less likely, but doctor currently tests with the default admin username, not the exact Nico van der Plas username.

Troubleshooting:

• try deleting all the keychain entries for Time Machine and add it again fresh
• try updating macOS to version 26.5

I am running macOS 26.6 beta 1 at the moment, and it seems that Time Machine backup to a network share is broken in this release... Hopefully they'll fix it in 26.6.2.
For now, let's not waste our time investigating this. Fingers crossed that Apple will address this issue a.s.a.p.

Just bit the bullet and rolled back my Mac to 26.5.
Time Machine is backing up to the Time Capsule now... Will take another 10 hours or so to complete, but so far so good.

My 1st generation Time Capsule is working as my home router and backup device since 2008. Still decently fast and absolutely reliable.

Big thank you for making it usable again after Apple removed support from recent Mac OS.

Wow, what a few weeks – had lots of real life to attend to, and just returned to find v2.2.2.

Seamless install over the (I think) b3 test version from when I was last here, it’s visible to the Time Machine settings, and AirPort Utility sees it and logs into it fine for adjustments.

I’ll install in the the Time Capsule on my other network (one of the flat ones), but the one I’m connected to right now was the most important one for me.

I did, and it's amazing! had to do fsck on the drive as it couldn't get rid of the old version on the second one I worked on, but it's all pretty straightforward and has been working.

Hi! I installed everything via the GUI-app. Two problems:

When I navigate to the Time Capsule-share it connects via AFP. It only connects using SMB when I use the 'open finder' button in the TimeCapsuleSMB app.

Secondly: since doing this, it doesn't recognize the disk as a Time Machine destination anymore using the GUI in the settings app. Same thing on two different computers, running Tahoe 26.5.1. Any suggestions?

Got the latest build (2.2.5) and reinstalled on version 5 (white tower) Time Capsule. Install reported success, but the checkup reported a failure:

SMB directory create timed out

What might cause this? Is there a TC setting that I need to change? What additional info can I provide that could help?

v2.2.5 had a fatal bug for NetBSD4 devices, which is fixed in v2.2.6

Try v2.2.6 first, and see if that fixes things. If that works, great. If not, file a new issue and I'll investigate.
