This PR refactors
JSONPointer._getitem()and adds some comments regarding the non-standard syntax it supports. Hopefully it is now more readable and maintainable.I've stopped short of moving and/or disabling non-standard syntax by default for now, as this would probably be a breaking change and require a major version bump.
