what I mean by this is: the author of the software supplies a hash stream (freely available or as part of a subscription) that your software can read and then download the hash file for that extension and then use when scanning.
- this ensures that the 3rd party addons are hash checked aswell.
- maybe a caching mechanisim aswell to prevent the remote servers getting hammered.
p.s. I am working on the server end of this issue. So i will be able to supply streams of hashes for my extensions.
