I didn't read my browsers error message carefully enough. It's a DNS issue actually. Apparently android cannot resolve your hostname correctly.
Trailing hyphens in subdomains are illegal apparently:

If I activate TRR in Firefox on Android (use Firefox's DNS implementation for DoH), then I am able to access your web server. Without such a workaround I cannot access your website from Android, whether it'S Chrome or Firefox or whatever.

github actually has a help page on this issue.

The only solution they offer is: change your username. (one ugly example how to fix this: add another alpha-numeric character right after the dash: jow-1)
Alternatively you would need to move your repo to a different user/organization :/
Or you would need to host documentation elsewhere.

It all depends on whether you are interested in fixing this.
