Feature Request: Code formatting only on manual save

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

When notebook autosaves and then formats the code, the cursor moves to the beginning of the cell. I don't want to turn off autosave, but I'd also like to use code formatting.

Add an option to the add-on settings, a switch, when toggling which the code formatting will be performed only when saving manually (ctrl+s)

I don't know, except that maybe there is a way to save the cursor position after formatting the code.

Also interested. The cursor constantly moving to the beginning of the cell is disruptive.

Yes, there is! Actually, more than one:

• a naive implementation would be just to restore the cursor position after update
• a proper one would store the cursor position as yjs a sticky index, transform the formatted update to yjs granular updates, and then restore the cursor to transformed sticky index position; this would allow to keep the cursor where it was even if formatting shifted the position in code

I recently implemented granular updates in jupyter-ydoc for server-side updates, we would need to have something like that (+sticky index) on the frontoend.
