External AIS data ingestion (e.g. AISstream.io) + message rate limits? #529

Hi, First of all, thanks for the great project. I have a question regarding external data ingestion. I’m interested in feeding AIS data from third-party sources (for example, https://aisstream.io/) into AIS-catcher alongside an SDR/local receivers. Is it supported / acceptable to push AIS data from external services like AISstream into AIS-catcher? |

Hi Armand, thanks for your interest in the project. It is a very flexible tool but I would prefer to only share data directly from AIS-receivers to keep it a useful tool for people to get a sense of the (relative) performance of their station. So no experimentation with synthetically generated or scraped data please :-) I have not been very explicit on that so it is a good question. In principle I would say, no scraped, synthetic or stolen data to keep the feeds as clean as possible. As another point, their might be an IP block if synthetic data is send, let me know if this happened and will undo it (my gmail is jvde.github). Kind regards, Jasper |
