Nested, folderized bookmarks

I wish it had a nested bookmark browsing ability when selecting an item. For example, like the iOS grouped items.

So, as I understand it correctly, after a certain user action on the folder, all of its contents should be displayed in the window, right?

Exactly. Consider switch to a mode where you can find websites (bookmarks) by the folders (subjects) you assigned to them. Like a bookshelf. Like one for magazines, one for entertainment, etc. I think it is going to be a superior design the Chrome's default homepage style!

It’s quite an interesting suggestion, but also rather costly to implement. I will definitely think about it, but I can’t promise anything, as it may require significant rework of the existing solution.
Since each tab has a lot of additional logic and dependencies, plus sorting and multi-actions on tabs, it’s actually quite a complex process. In short, it’s not simple at all. But I promise I’ll think about it, maybe something can be done, though I can’t promise anything. There are just too many counteracting factors )

Yes, I understand what you mean.
By the way, a folder can contain hundreds of bookmarks (someone even told me about thousands). The proposed feature works well with a small number of bookmarks, which is evident from the examples on Android and iOS, as well as in videos of Linux graphical environments.

However, bookmarks can have folders within folders infinitely, and overall there can be a very large number of items. In this case, the example is not quite suitable.

PS: That is, when developing extensions from scratch, one can choose such a concept with limitations (no nesting and a small number of items) and stick to that functionality. But in an existing system with a different concept and logic, and with support for recursive folders, it diverges quite significantly.

Thanks for the detailed reply. In that case, which I think is practically painful to maintain items, one can design it like an infinite slider, like the one for date picker such as

, and might persuades the user to populate less items per category! ;)

Not exactly on topic, but the iOS calendar isn’t really infinite, it just gives that impression :)
