The required layers are not specified in the Scarthgap branch

The LAYERDEPENDS variable must be set in the layer.conf file to indicate that certain layers are required for using meta-atmel and to ensure compliance with OE/Yocto.

Additionally, please be careful: the Scarthgap branch contains an nginx_%.bbappend. This means that either meta-webserver should be included as a required layer, or you should utilize the dynamic layer feature.

Pls note that we have deprecated 'meta-atmel' and we will continue to support 'meta-mchp' instead. We will be adding a note in the 'meta-atmel' repository to notify the users about this move.

Thank you, I wasn't aware that Microchip is providing a new layer. I will switch to it and open a linked issue.

I quickly browsed it, but the same issues occurred. The Yocto Project provides tools to verify that layers are compliant:

Moreover, it seems that the BSP layers also contain a few changes that aren't part of the BSP (e.g., Nginx, BusyBox, Systemd, etc.). I advise you to move these changes to a separate (distro) layer so that your consumers can easily integrate your BSP layers into their Yocto build system without unexpected side effects on their distribution and avoid applying hacks as workarounds.
