AVG/Avira flags the archive as virus - does not allow download (+VirusTotal) #233

I just checked this again and even added an exception to download and upload to VirusTotal. For people using Avira/AVG, the archive is impossible to download without a whitelist. Version 1.7.2 - FULL archive. Thank you again for your continued work on this masterpiece. |

Hello: Yeah it's a known issue that really has no solution as the launcher, specifically, does the hosts modiying and certificates that seems suspicious for AV (plus with the advent of AI, anything could be flag as suspicious by any of the hundreds of AV solutions), but it's explained both in QA/Troubleshooting wiki pages and in the release page, anyway I've also added indication to add it to exceptions in Troubleshooting wiki page, releases and README.md ;) It could be lessened by signing the binaries with a certificate but it costs hundreds of dollars/euros yearly that I'm not willing to spend (unless someone donates). When using VirusTotal it's normal to have some positives but as long as there are fewer than 10% detections or so it's generally fine, I tested v1.7.2 myself: Launcher
Server
So VirusTotal is always at < 6% positive rate which I find acceptable :) PS: Thanks for your nice words :) |
