Crash every time I try to open a book or add a new tab

ComicRack permanently freezes whenever I try to open any books or press the "+" button to add a new tab. It seems like deleting my config.xml gets rid of the problem.

Exact Steps to Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Download my Config.xml file and place it on c:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\cYo\ComicRack Community Edition\
2. Go to the top toolbar
3. Click on the "+" button
4. It will freeze permanently
5. Also freezes if I try to open any book

I hadn't used the software in many months. Last time I used it, it was fine.
I haven't changed any settings since the last time I used it, I just double clicked on a cbz file to try to open it and that when I realized that it freezes.

So deleting the Config fixed it? At first glance all I see in that Config.xml is the background texture that was set with the original ComicRack and didn't change back after upgrading.

Path to the texture file are hard coded so if you uninstalled the old ComicRack it would point to nothing. It's mentioned in the upgrading section, but that shouldn't crash the application. It does make sense because these places you mentioned (clicking + or opening a book) are both places where that texture is shown behind the book.

But simply using your config file doesn't reproduce the issue, it just default to black. Maybe there is another variable here. Maybe some hardware differences related to OpenGL used in the Viewer along with the missing background texture.

yeah, deleting that config file fixes it permanently. I tried removing just the line that lists the chalk background png but it still perma-freezes when adding a new tab.
Maybe you also need the ComicDb.xml?

That ComicDb didn't change anything, still no problem.

That chalk image shouldn't be a problem even if doesn't exists, it just sets the background image to null. But even then it isn't even enabled (it's missing <PageImageBackgroundMode>Texture</PageImageBackgroundMode>) so should default to Color. I thought that maybe the Renderer could be confused with some contradictory settings (Color/Texture).

When you deleted the line in the Config did you do it in CurrentWorkspace? Because you have multiple workspaces saved, but only the CurrentWorkspace is important.

Honestly I do not see anything weird in your Config. What I would try is removing the complete CurrentWorkspace node and see if that changes anything. Maybe some out of bounds windows, but I highly doubt it - since you are set to maximized. Maybe try Reader in it's own window before opening a file (F12), see if that changes anything.

Do you have any ComicRack.ini changes that might affect the reader?

Happy you figured it out, but I am still unsure what is happening. It can be Windows being weird. I've had weird issues that went away like #126. Sometimes just a quick reboot does wonders.

I think I removed it from the first search result which I think is the current workspace.

all the lines in C:\Program Files\ComicRack Community Edition\ComicRack.ini seems to be all commented out.

Also, I don't recall ever having created other workspaces so I'm not sure why I have multiple ones. It doesn't show others in the UI
