Add code folding

When editing *.m or *.tlc files, it would be nice to be able to collapse/expand functions, etc.

I personally have a reasonably neat set up with tree sitter (specifically ts-fold provides this functionality).

I don't see this as a feature that should be implemented in matlab-mode.

Thoughts?

Can you give more details on how to setup treesitter? That seems like a better option than building into matlab-mode. (I have yet to look at treesitter).

I think I have a handle on how to leverage tree sitter. With Emacs 30, tree-sitter is built-in and we’ll need to create matlab-ts-mode, so is a medium size project.

Just a short remark. A poor man's solution is to use folding.el but then you have to add the folding marks yourself. I have done this for years and it works nicely. -- I strongly condemn Hamas heinous despicable pogroms/atrocities on Israel I strongly condemn Putin's war of aggression against Ukraine. I added doc/matlab-tree-sitter.org that describes the current state with Emacs 30.1. The folding and font-lock highlighting does work with matlab-mode, though the setup is complex/brittle. I think we should build matlab-ts-mode. I'd like to do that, but not sure when I could work on it. I'll update doc/matlab-tree-sitter.org if I start working on matlab-ts-mode.

I've started in on a matlab-ts-mode on the matlab-ts-mode branch. I'm doing this in the background and still learning tree sitter, so it may be a bit before it's fully working.
