Using the FluffyChat client, I am able to join rooms whose addresses don't point to the home server that is selected. For instance if I have envs.net selected as my home server, I can join #envs_lounge:matrix.org just fine.
What I can't do is join spaces in this way. If I have matrix.org selected as my home server and I try to join the unredacted space by searching for #space:unredacted.org , I get a search result of a public room named "#space:unredacted.org" with 0 members and I get an error when joining. If I change my home server to unredacted.org, I can then find the space and join as intended.
I think the FluffyChat instructions for joining spaces needs to be changed, but I'm not sure how you would make it be able to tell between spaces and rooms.
Maybe this is something FluffyChat needs to change on their end?
I think it wouldn't be hard to change the instructions to cover spaces as well, but wasn't sure if that would clutter things up unneccessarily.
