$.proxy deprecated in jquery 3.3 and above.

I get a deprecated message in jquery 4.0 on the use of $.proxy in this js. How to fix those?

This is a common issue with jQuery plugins when upgrading to jQuery 4.0. The $.proxy function was deprecated in favor of the native Function.prototype.bind method.

You can fix this by replacing:

$.proxy(function, context)

with:

function.bind(context)

Note that since this project appears to be unmaintained, you might consider using a modern alternative like Hammer.js which is actively maintained and supports touch gestures.

@nouoxu in many cases using Function.prototype.bind is not a solution and scripts stop working because of one thing that jQuery.proxy does and Function#bind doesn't which is setting guid on the bound function instances so that proxied event handlers can be removed without storing the instance of the proxied function.

Even wordpress does not replace .proxy because of the fact that .bind is not reliable in many cases.
