#edit unlocker-daemon.service so that the absolute path to unlocker-daemon.py is correct

Open the unlocker-daemon.service file in your favourite text editor. locate the following line

- ExecStart=/usr/bin/python /home/maxchehab/Projects/remote-linux-unlocker/linux-daemon/unlocker-daemon.py

and change it to reflect the current setup of your system.

/usr/bin/python

run the following command on your system

user@machine:~$ /usr/bin/python --version
Python 3.13.7

you should get an output as shown above. If not (/usr/bin/python: No such file or directory), run

user@machine:~$ which python
/home/dither/.venv/bin/python

and use the location the output tells you (so in the above case, /home/dither/.venv/bin/python) to replace /usr/bin/python in the above script. If there is no output from the which command (and echo $? directly after echoes 1), you will need to install python first.

/home/max...daemon.py

This should reflect the location of the daemon file you have just unzipped. for me, this is located at /home/dither/Documents/GitHub/Remote-Linux-Unlocker/linux-daemon/unlocker-daemon.py, but for you it will more likely be found at /home/{you}/Downloads/linux-daemon/unlocker-daemon.py. Now modify the ExecStart with this path. For me, this is what the path ended up becoming:

+ ExecStart=/usr/bin/python /home/dither/Documents/GitHub/Remote-Linux-Unlocker/linux-daemon/unlocker-daemon.py

Now continue following the instructions on the readme. (actually this repo is outdated. For your convenience, use #14, as otherwise you are likely to encounter fatal errors when running the python scripts etc.)
