Issue Subcategory
Icon insufficient contrast
User Experience
Users with low vision cannot distinguish meaningful icons from the background. Critical status indicators (warnings, errors) become invisible.
Repro Steps
Open VS code > Install the DocumentDB for VS Code Extension and open it > Add new Connections > Expand one of the databases > Expand a collection within that database > Double-click the Documents item > Run query { Reviews : 10 } > Query Insights tab > Observe the issue: Information icon indicating tooltip availability has insufficient color contrast in Light 2026 and Dark 2026 themes
Actual Result
The information (ⓘ) icon used to indicate the presence of a tooltip does not meet the minimum required 3:1 contrast ratio against adjacent colors in Light 2026 and Dark 2026 themes. Due to the insufficient contrast, the icon is difficult to perceive, especially for users with low vision or reduced contrast sensitivity. The icon serves as a meaningful visual indicator that additional information is available through a tooltip.
Expected Result
The information icon should maintain a minimum 3:1 contrast ratio against adjacent colors in both Light 2026 and Dark 2026 themes. Meaningful icons that convey information, such as the availability of a tooltip, should be clearly visible and distinguishable for all users.
How to Fix
Increase the icon’s color contrast to at least 3:1. Alternatively, add a visible text label alongside the icon so the information is not conveyed by the graphic alone.
Environment details
Application Name: VS Code
Extension: DocumentDB for VS Code
Extension Version: 0.9.1
Edition Windows 11 Enterprise
Version 25H2
OS build 26200.8390
