Folding breaks and scroll jumps around while writing code, why?

In general I fold all the methods in my classes, then when I try to add a new method and start writing, the autocomplete appears and the rest of the methods get unfolded and the editor scrolls up randomly, so I lose the line where I was adding code. The cursor is still there so I press the keyboard arrows and the editor scrolls back again to the place I was editing, but this behavior is annoying.

This behavior happens because the Java Language Server recomputes folding ranges on each edit, which resets your folded regions and scroll position. As a workaround, switch to indentation-based folding in VS Code’s settings:

With this setting, VS Code uses simple indentation rules for folding (no calls to JDT LS), so your manual folds will stick and the editor won’t jump around.
