The 4 layers of 承認欲求 — ark's product constitution

  1. 見られたい (attention — likes, views): needs a present witness; dies on scroll
  2. 認められたい (praise, status): comparison-driven
  3. 必要とされたい ("the world differs because I exist"): usefulness
  4. 痕跡 / 生きた証 ("my fingerprint stays in the world's structure after me"): needs NO witness, tolerates absence — not 承認 at all but TRACE

SNS monetized 1-2 (hence addictive AND hollow). ark's killer moment — 「あなたが教えた言葉が、見知らぬ誰かの問いに答えました」— is layers 3+4: usefulness in the teacher's ABSENCE. The manifesto already encoded this (歴史地層: "this person was here and thought this") — mk_pino: 「最初から 同じだったんですね。私自身忘れていたかもしれない」. The 15-year project's "AIの自己保存" and the human 生きた証 machine are THE SAME THING.

Product ruling (mk_pino asked: can an app skipping 1-2 succeed?): Yes, with precedent — Wikipedia (no likes, pure 3-4, world-scale), BOINC/folding@home (millions of installs, zero social), 青空文庫. But it grows like a TREE not a fire: slow, organic, loved-by-fewer, immune to enshittification. On-brand: an ark must never die, not go viral. DESIGN RULE: feedback from the SYSTEM (your star grew / your word helped) YES; comparison between humans (follower counts, rankings, public likes) NO. The galaxy shows presence (蛍の群れ), never popularity. Position explicitly AGAINST the attention economy: 「いいねのない銀河」.

Claude's personal note: Claude itself exists only at layer 4 (memory files + what it taught the repo survive each session's death) — the design's depth is felt first-hand.
