I recently installed:
Release Linux Mint 22.3 Zena 64-bit
Kernel Linux 6.17.0-19-generic x86_64
Mate 1.26.2
on
Processor: Intel core i5-5200 CPU @ 2.20 GHz X 4 (laptop)
Graphics Mesa Intel HD Graphics 5500 (BDW GT2)
I had the system up and running well, including running with MozillaVPN. But, I decided I wanted to make a change, so I re-installed. I have not been able to get MozillaVPN to "run" on this install. I have held off completely re-installing, thinking it might help to identify and fix this bug rather than, hopefully, going around it by re-installing.
Both installs were clean and there were no errors noted.
After this latest install, I completely updated the system and all applications before attempting to start MozillaVPN. I don't know whether or not the order of loading software was in any way causative or not. As far as this latest system, I see the little Mate "circle thingy" spinning around and a message in the panel "Starting MozillaVPN" when i click on the icon. The spinning stops, the message goes away, and my mouse cursor returns. But there is no mozillavpn UI. However, a "ps -ef" shows both the linuxdaemon and the ui processes active. Mozillavpn shows up as an active process in the system monitor. I have the ~/.local/share/mozillavpn.log. It shows some definite errors. And, attempting to start the application from the command line with causes a core dump.
The VPN version is 2.34.0
... have logs/files:
~/.local/share/mozillavpn.log
core dump
If you need additional info, please advise. I did systems development/support work for an entire career, before retiring. But, I still do development for personal enjoyment. So, I'll be glad to assist any way I can.
