Error. sync failed.

I got a new error today.

alert in android moe memoes:

sync failed 
			close

No memos show when pressing memos menu option.
The explore page works correctly and shows my public memos.
Tags and resouces do not work. They show nothing.
If I create a memo on android, it syncs shows up correctly in the usememos "web app page" I self host.

Long story:

I run self-hosted custom use memos at: https://github.com/dgleba/memos832/tree/focus832c
I realize this is not a super clean situation.

This backend is usememos official git Mar 15/2026 with a couple of buttons I added for a large focus mode modal window.
It also has the MySQL fixes that resulted from #338

I use docker image: mariadb:12 for database.
I use moememos android 2.0.3

I run moememos android and usememos my-custom on two phones.
pixel-7pro = all good.
Samsung S22 work phone = this phone shows the error.

I logged out and logged in again. still have the issue.

I have not tried to get it to work with moememos android 2.0.3 and usememos v0.27.1

Is there a way to troubleshoot the issue?
Is there a way to get a more detailed error message?

Moe Memos 2.0.3 requires Memos 0.27.0 or 0.27.1.

The exact breaking change since 0.26.x is usememos/memos#5779

Syncing your fork with upstream should fix the compatibility. Please always backup your data with Memos update.
