Describe the bug

The plugin QuickMapServices (v1.1.0) fails to add layers due to a logging error when used with QGIS 3.36+ (Python 3.12).

Install QuickMapServices
Open QGIS 3.36+ (Python 3.12)
Try to add any basemap from QMS

At the moment we’re not able to reproduce the issue on our side, so we need a bit more detail to understand what’s happening in your environment.

Could you please clarify what you mean by a “logging error”? Specifically:

• Do you see a Python traceback? If yes, please provide the full error message.
• Does the layer fail to load completely, or is it added but with errors?
• Where exactly do you see the error (QGIS message log, Python console, terminal, etc.)?

It would also help if you could provide:

• Your operating system and how QGIS was installed (e.g. standalone installer, OSGeo4W, package manager, etc.)
• The exact basemap/service you are trying to add
• Whether the issue still occurs in a clean QGIS profile

With this information we should be able to narrow down the cause.
