Install MCP server for Red Hat {product-title}

To install the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for Red Hat {product-title} feature, complete the following procedures.

Prerequisites

  • Access to OpenShift console with admin rights.

  • Installed MCP-compatible client, such as Claude Code, Visual Studio Code (VS Code), Cursor, or OpenShift LightSpeed (OLS).

Procedure

  1. Install the MCP server for Red Hat {product-title} Helm chart.

  2. Connect an MCP-compatible client, such as Claude Code, to the MCP server.

  3. Install the MCP gateway.

  4. Verify the MCP gateway deployment.

  5. Configure the MCP gateway.

  6. Configure RBAC enforcement.

  7. Revoke access to Custom Resources.

  8. Set up the MCP gateway authentication.

  9. Set up MCP gateway authorization.
