delayed txt messaging with fossify messages

I'm using oneplus 13r with t-mobile prepaid plan in the US. I've installed fossify message apps on the phone to replace the default google messages.
however, yesterday (3/14/26) (i.e. saturday) i received txt messages that were sent to me on last Thursday and Friday, i've been wondering why my messages to family members went unanswered until i received their replies yesterday evening.

I'm not sure whether it's the phone or the txting apps I use. has anyone had similar issue with txting on fossify message apps?

It sounds like a carrier/network delay. There's a related issue: FossifyOrg/Messages#123, but it affects messages within the app, not the notification itself. Battery optimization is another explanation, so you might want to check https://dontkillmyapp.com.

You might want to check a few things, because delays like that are usually not caused by just one factor:

1. Carrier delays (T-Mobile)
   Sometimes SMS messages can be delayed on the carrier side, especially on prepaid plans or during network congestion.

2. Battery optimization / background restrictions
   If Fossify Messages is being restricted in the background, it may not receive messages in real time.
   Try:

• Disable battery optimization for the app
• Allow background activity
• Make sure it’s not being “put to sleep”

3. Default SMS app
   Ensure Fossify Messages is set as the default SMS app. If not, Android may delay or mis-handle message delivery.

4. Signal / network issues
   If your phone had weak signal on those days, messages can queue and arrive later.

Since you received multiple delayed messages at once, it strongly suggests a network/carrier delay, but checking the app settings can help rule out local issues.

Curious to know if this happens again after adjusting battery settings 🙂
