I'm having a similar issue. Originally the voice was Alan Pope. The voice recently changed to a female voice without my changing the configuration.
I'm running OVOS docker.
My tts configuration (copied from the results of ovos-config show command run in the ovos_cli container) is:

seems you are using the public servers for TTS, these are volunteer provided and have no warranties about uptime quality or default voice. what likely happened is that @goldyfruit updated his servers and default voice changed. you need to pass your desired voice explicitly in your mycroft.conf otherwise you get the server side default voice

i strongly recommend you use a offline TTS plugin or host your own servers, public servers are meant for demos and easy onboarding but should not be used as a permanent solution

@goldyfruit would be nice to keep alan pope as default voice in public servers until we do a coordinate effort to change voices at some point
