GSC GUI Will Be Redesigned

Problems

• Currently not obvious what happens when you select different calculators, or plugin models, and the buttons are in an unintuitive place.
• It is unclear what greys out different sections.
• The workflow is not obvious, too many things.
• Drawing point / SLD export is in a strange place.

Actions

The major design changes will be:

• Split up into tabs
  • Magnetic properties
  • Coordinates
  • General info (Rg, rendering?)
  • Output (q range, sld export, calc choice etc)
• Show effects of changes on hover

I agree 200% on the splitting up -- probably into tabs but could be differently. I think that part should be thought about in terms of the users and communities and how much they overlap. So Design of the redesign should be added at the top of that list.

However I don't see how this is an ADR but more of an issue -- or more accurately a "story" or "epic" or whatever nomenclature is used for a super issue that would have a bunch of smaller issues.

Perhaps the ADR could instead be about how we finally move to being able to capture projects in higher level issues? We started implementing an "epic" issue but that was not a concept in github at the time and required a 3rd party (zenhub I think it was?) so was abandoned. I think it would be a huge advantange to use that rather than trying to just use labels because you can then track progress and dependencies etc etc?

And I see that issues can now have sub-issues so between that and project boards, my other point is rather moot
