Future of devcontainers?

While there is activity in the cli, and features repositories, most of the other repos do not show any activity since end of October 2024.

Lots of open pull requests are, for example in the devcontainers.github.io repo, and the CI seems to be broken for the ci repo.

Given that Microsoft is working on similar technologies, such as Dev drive and Azure Dev Box, I'm wondering what the future plans for devcontainers on VSCode might be.

Thanks for the feedback. I have fixed the ci builds and published a new version. We will also look into merging the collections PRs in a more timely fashion.

Dev Containers provide lightweight reproducible dev environments and are here to stay. I think Dev Drive and Dev Box address only slightly similar but not the same needs.

@chrmarti I'm glad to hear it's not going away because I don't know of a better alternative.

However, I'm concerned about the backlog of registrations:
