Meeting Minutes 24.04.2025Participants:Edgar Menezes @edmc25 Agenda:
Project UpdatesEdgar showed where to find the meeting minutes in the "Discussions" section. Following, there was a brief discussion about the "Upload API" issue (#2). Raised points are now clarified. Eric explained what the new “Copy the mingw32 compiler“ issue (#6) is about. There was also a short discussion about an issue on the Eclipse Foundation platform. At the moment it is not possible to access some areas of it, e.g. the OpenXilEnv page and a user account section. It seems to affect the automatic checks on GitHub. Community ContributionsNiki opened a pull request for the "Upload API" issue (#2). Eric will try to review and merge it before his vacation (from 29/04 to 02/05). Edgar will work on the “Copy the mingw32 compiler“ issue (#6). Eric will create first issues for functional tests after his vacation. Open DiscussionEdgar mentioned that there is a Eclipse Foundation Working Group on Slack. He will try to create a channel for OpenXilEnv there. No further topics raised. Action Items:

Meeting Minutes 08.05.2025Participants:Edgar Menezes @edmc25 Agenda:
Project UpdatesBrief discussion about the closed issues "Copy the mingw32 compiler“ issue" and "Added library for test automation with OpenXilEnv". "Setup a self test” issue was presented and participants agreed with it. Timo will work on it and first results should be presented in next meeting. OpenScenario issues presented by Edgar and Eric. Edgar will work on them and topics should be closed before next meeting. Regarding the Slack channel, Edgar was in contact with Sarah Gallian from the Eclipse Foundation and she said that a channel could be created for the project. However, the participants of this meeting voted to not create one for now, since the Discussions section in Github should be sufficient. Open Discussion"Deploy API as Python package to be able to install it with PIP" issue was briefly discussed. Nikolas will work on it. Timo left the meeting after this discussion due to a parallel meeting. Edgar inquired whether all participants were satisfied with the project's progress, to which everyone affirmed positively. The consensus was to concentrate on advancing the project and acclimating to the current processes. In the second half of the year, the team will initiate more detailed planning and organizational activities." Action Items:

Meeting Minutes 11.09.2025Participants:Edgar Menezes @edmc25 Agenda:
Project UpdatesThe first workflow using GitHub Actions has been implemented. This initial workflow serves as a basic "Hello World" example, aimed at gaining initial experience with GitHub Actions, which is new to the active project members. The next steps will involve implementing a build workflow and the first test workflows. Currently, only the MDF3 format is supported. However, we plan to add support for MDF4 soon, as it offers significant advantages over its predecessor—particularly for handling long recordings. This support is expected to be available in the coming weeks. Eric will create an issue to track this task. Open DiscussionVenkat has recently started working with OpenXilEnv. He might prepare a use case to present and discuss at the next community meeting. Action Items:

Meeting Minutes 29 April 2026Participants:Edgar Menezes @edmc25 Agenda:
“Decoded CAN Messages” PRThe main changes of the PR were related to the display of the signals inside a CAN message, decoding the raw data for better visualization of the CAN message content on the UI. It was created by Eric and reviewed by Edgar, with support from GitHub Copilot. It was merged back to main on 26. April 2026. Open IssuesIssue #44 was created by @chrbertsch. He pointed out that OpenXilEnv should be listed on the FMI tools page, since the project README indicates that it supports the FMI standard. @edmc25 will take care of it. Since a logo is asked to be shown on the tools page, issue #46 was created. Other open issues have to reviewed, but do not have priority for the moment. Progress Review and Release Plan@edmc25 explained what is described in the Eclipse Foundation Handbook and in the Development Process page regarding a release. There it is stated that before a release is done, a plan has to be created. @edmc25 will draft a plan to be discusses on the next meeting. Furthermore, a progress review has to be completed before the release can be done. @edmc25 will also check how to perform a progress review. Open DiscussionAn OpenXilEnv user reported that from Qt version >= 6.5 there is a native "dark mode" supported, which conflicts with the current "dark mode" implementation for the project. His suggestion was to use the native implementation. Issue #48 created to analyze this topic. Action Items:

Meeting Minutes 13 May 2026Participants:Edgar Menezes @edmc25 Agenda:
Project Plan for ReleaseEric and Edgar agreed that a native Qt dark mode implementation should be part of the next release, as it represents an important bug fix for some users. Documentation should also be a focus for a major release at least, including a review and update of the existing documentation files. The User Guide PDF should be removed from the codebase. In addition, API stability should be ensured before a major release. OpenXilEnv LogoEdgar presented two AI‑generated logo ideas (see #46). Edgar and Eric agreed that it would be nice to have more people in the decision‑making process. Adding OpenXilEnv to FMI Tools pageIt is currently unclear to Edgar and Eric which “vendor” should be used for OpenXilEnv in the FMI JSON file. Edgar has forwarded this question to @chrbertsch. Open DiscussionEric and Edgar briefly discussed layered standards for network communication in an FMI context. This topic should be analyzed and may result in work packages for future implementations. Action Items:

Project Plan for ReleaseAll participants agreed to have the plan for the release as a Github Project. The plan consists so far of three items, being the implementation of the Qt Dark Mode the main one. Furthermore, a progress review was created for the OpenXilEnv Eclipse Foundation project, having the release plan as base. Open DiscussionTimo mentioned that, due to activities out of the project, he hasn't been able to work on setting up self tests. Action Items:

Qt Dark Mode PREdgar requested Copilot to review the PR. It generated a few comments, which still have to be analyzed by Edgar. He also wants to have a closer look to the implementation to have a better understanding of it. Esmini in READMEEdgar noted that the README currently does not include instructions for adding Esmini as a dependency when building OpenXilEnv with Esmini support. All participants agreed that this should be added to the README. Open DiscussionNo further topics discussed. Action Items:

Meeting Minutes 11.04.2025
Participants:
Agenda:
Welcome and Introductions
Since it was the first meeting after a long time, there was a short introduction of the participants and the project. Edgar, Eric, Nikolas, Edwin, Timo, Michael and Stefan were already familiar with the project. Badi joined for the first time and did not know the project.
Project Updates
Edgar and Nikolas now appear as contributors on the EF1 OpenXilEnv page. Michael and Stefan are not active on the project at the moment, but they would like to stay as Committers for now. Biweekly Meeting is set up on Eclipse Foundation calendar and will take place on Thursdays from 2 pm to 3 pm.
Community Contributions
Nikolas pull request regarding "a simple example to integrate an Arduino sketch code into the OpenXilEnv" was reviewed and merged. Nikolas said a few words about it. Edgar opened a pull request on .eclipsefdn repo to enable the "Discussions" section for the OpenXilEnv org and main repo. It was reviewed by Eric but a review from a EF staff member was still missing.
Sharing Testing Experiences with OpenXilEnv API
Nikolas showed the OpenXilEnv API for testing that he has implemented, but is not yet uploaded. Everybody agreed to open a pull request for it and Nikolas will do it (#2). Once the pull request is opened, Edgar, Eric and Timo will have a look to it. Timo asked about the possibility of deploying the API as a Python package to be able to install it with PIP. A issue was created for that as well (#3). Eric will create issues for functional tests based on a old test framework.
Open Discussion
Badi asked if there is a channel for the project. Edgar answered that there is none currently. Badi suggested using Slack. Edgar will check it.
