updates the codegen (at least, one part of it) to use inline format args.

this change is 'breaking' in the sense that the downstream code-gen tests in progenitor will need to be regenerated after pulling in this change

Thanks for the contribution. In general, clippy PRs are not particularly encouraged, but in this case, there are just 2 lines of code changed, I'm inclined to give a win to the clippy pedantic folks.
