I’ve been working on a number of improvements to this plugin for a NetBox deployment at Moment Factory. It implements a number of features that are specific to our workflows but many that would likely benefit others and could be merged, such as :
- Detailed port information in a 2x and 3x size format, with customizable data display
- Colorized port information based on VLAN Role, ID, PoE Status, etc.
- Ability to display multiple (all) Devices from a Site in a single page on the Site page
- Adjustable link destination
The mega-branch that implements these features is in my fork here
We are about to embark on a refinement pass to the code and address bugs, and may introduce some often-requested features such as better CSS definition management. Before we do that, I wanted to get your feedback on how you’d like us to contribute (or not) to the project.
Heads up: Our company generally doesn’t work with high end network devices and our use of Virtual Chassis is limited, so our ability to test those workflows will be constrained.
Ways to proceed:
- Contributions in the form of PR’s to the original codebase
- Assist / contribute in maintaining the original plugin, merging our changes as we go along
- Pursue our own fork without contributing at all
