Multi Domain And Laravel Error Databases Connection

The problem I’m having:
I use multi domain with same server, with same IP and one Caddy. example i call the domain is https://site1/ and https://site2/. in my site i use laravel, its success open two site that, but the problem is in database connection, when on first open is site1 then success connected to site1database, but when i open site2, database still connected to site1database. in other case, i restart the caddy, i first open site2, database connected to site2, but when i open site1 database still in databasesite2. soo, look like caddy get wrong get information the .env or laravel config.

Error messages and/or full log output:
This error when i 1st open site1 then site2
Site1 Database : site1db with table tablesite1
Site2 Database : site2db with table tablesite2

SQLSTATE[42S02]: Base table or view not found: 1146 Table 'site1db.tableinsite2' doesn't exist

System environment:
Ubuntu Server 22.04

Could it be that you have DB_CONNECTION or DB_HOST also set in your OS environment? The values in the OS will have priority over the ones in .env.

I'd also mention that environment variables are per process (usually) and frankenphp is running both sites in one processs. FPM runs each request in its own process, so this is easily supported in FPM. I'm curious if this works in Apache, which also runs in a single process.

In essence, I'm not sure if having vastly different environments in different requests is actually possible. Env files are a nice hack around this, but I don't think it is reasonable to expect it to actually work. It would be better to use actual configuration files instead of env variables.

Alternatively, setting "environnement variables" by using the env option of the worker directive in the Caddyfile, or using the Symfony DotEnv component won't override the real environment variables but just update the $_SERVER superglobal for the current thread.

I sill think it might make sense to sandbox the environment on a per-thread basis in ZTS and might reopen that PR at some point.
But yeah as @dunglas mentioned in the meantime you can do something like this:

I'm 99.9% sure this is impossible. At least, using real environments... That being said, we could just have each php thread use a simple map in go instead of reading/writing from the real environment. This may cause issues with fork/exec/passthru/backticks/etc. though. For example,

putenv("TEST=FOO");
echo `echo \$TEST`;

This should output FOO but if we are not using a real environment, then it will not -- unless we also hook into these functions and configure the env before execution.

I think putenv could both update the real environment and the thread's sandboxed environment (without changing the other sandboxed environments).

The only thing that won't fix is the fact that multiple threads might be racing for the real environment, as is currently the case.

But it would guarantee a consistent $_ENV and $_SERVER (which is probably the more common use case).

i tried change filename .env to filename where not exist in site2

result is error 500 when i open the web, because wrong .env (not found)

then i was tried to change filename .env from site2 from bootstrap/app.php with exist file :

$app->loadEnvironmentFrom('.envsite2');

i first open site2, success load, but when i return to site1, error, still connect to site2db. soo frankendphp not detect filename, look like its keep same environment in memory
