dark colorScheme with mapId (android)

I've been trying to get a dark map to render on Android using the BasicMap from the example.

Steps tried:

• create a new mapId for Android in my GCP project console
• use an existing maps api key from the same GCP project
• set mapId value, set userInterfaceStyle: 'dark'
• echo MAPS_API_KEY="<YOUR_MAPS_API_KEY>" >> android/secrets.properties
• deployed the example app to an Android 16 emulator (no play services)

But the map always renders in light theme. Am I missing something?

@jamesholcomb no issue switching userInterfaceStyle, works as expected.
