When trying to schedule a publish I get the error "Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'getTime')"

When I use the plugin locally it all works fine but when I deploy to the cloud I get this error. My project uses Typescript and runs against Node 22 and Strapi 5.47.1 with version 2.0.9 of the publisher-plugin

Interesting issue. Before I investigate this further, could you try downgrading to Publisher version 2.0.7 and let me know whether the issue still occurs? Please be sure you pin the version to 2.0.7 without using '^'

Since Publisher 2.0.8, the plugin registers a one-off runtime cron job by passing the execution time as a JavaScript Date to strapi.cron.add() (#216). This works with Strapi's standard local cron service, but the stack trace strongly suggests that Strapi Cloud's replacement cron service does not handle this option in the same way. This would explain why it works locally but fails on Strapi Cloud.

Some additional context, when I was working on this with Claude that might be useful for your investigation.

Locally, Strapi uses the built-in cron service (node-schedule), which accepts a raw Date for one-off jobs. That’s what the publisher plugin does:

On Strapi Cloud, the standard cron service is replaced by cloud-cronjob-runner (injected at deploy time — you won’t see it in local node_modules). That runner expects a different options shape (likely something like { start: Date, rule: '...' }), not a bare Date. When it tries to read a property like options.start and call .getTime(), it gets undefined — hence:

Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'getTime')
at Object.registerJob (.../cloud-cronjob-runner/server/services/scheduler.js:66:23)
The log line before the error confirms the date itself is fine (2026-06-09T18:45:00.000Z); registration is what fails.

@TMSchipper I was able to successfully downgrade to 2.0.7. I scheduled an un-publlish date/time. Unfortunately it did not unpublished my content.

Hi @chillbrodev, just to confirm my understanding: the internal server error no longer occurs after downgrading to version 2.0.7, but the scheduled publisher actions are not being executed. Is that correct?

Could you share the following files/configuration?

• config/plugin.ts
• config/server.ts
• Any custom 'beforePublish' or 'beforeUnpublish' hooks
• Any Redis or locking logic used by these hooks

Could you also confirm:

• Do you see the publish actions in your database?
• If yes, is the publish action still in your database after it passed it's timestamp?

@TMSchipper Confirmed the Internal Server Error no longer happens.

The new issue is that the schedule publisher actions are not being executed. They are present in the DB under the actions table.

I just made a new one that is tracked under document_id xtaz36muo2aj97a5kpqtzgja. As of writing this issue it is 9:24am US Pacific Time. I scheduled it for 9:25am.

As of 9:26am the publisher did not run, my item is still in draft.

I pulled the DB down locally at 9:32 AM to see if there was a difference in data. If there is another table I should look in please let me know.

It stands out that all three *_at timestamps are the same timestamp.

I do not use any custom hooks or Redis or locking logic. My Strapi is pretty bare bones. Here are the requested TS files. Unfortunately Strapi Cloud is not offering any Runtime logs right now so this is all I can provide.
