Can great-docs build a site from a quarto folder with a yaml conf present?

I am wondering if great-docs can build the site if the quarto folder of qmd files is created by another step (when for example the repository is not python), given that the rest of the configuration is provided in the yaml file? I am experimenting with a non-standard r-project-template and it seems like a better documentation handling may be good.
