Is there a recommended way of setting up cloud backups with an existing powersync database?

I would like to setup a daily backup sort of a thing to google drive or apple icloud.

The way I am thinking of it(most basic approach) is to:

1. Close the database connection
2. Copy the database files
3. Resume the database connection

I feel like there will be a lot of edge cases here given that powersync manages its own connection to manage the sync. So I am not sure about this.

Please let me know if there are any resources available for this. Thanks!

Hey @KarthikRaju391, that approach could work. Our discord has a few threads on exporting approaches (often in a CSV format), but if you are using Web/OPFS you could extract the database with the help of this: https://docs.powersync.com/usage/lifecycle-maintenance/client-database-diagnostics#web

Something that might be useful too is the VACUUM INTO command in SQLite, which can be used to create a backup of the database:

If the INTO clause is included, then the original database file is unchanged and a new database is created in a file named by the argument to the INTO clause. The argument is a scalar expression, such as a text literal. The new database will contain the same logical content as the original database, fully vacuumed.

@cahofmeyr, thank you, I did end up using VACUUM INTO command and it is working. Also, before running VACUUM INTO, running PRAGMA wal_checkpoint(TRUNCATE) would help in flushing out all pending writes. This is also mentioned in the documentation here.
