As of the most recent attempt to switch to SDL3, this is a list of all reported issues:

Windows (reverted)

• External tablet "drivers" not working

Linux

• Resolution is saved incorrectly after 2025.221.0 update osu#32073
• Game window seems to be unfocusable for a while after switching workspaces on SDL3 with borderless mode osu#31990
• new versions typing osu#32013 (probably)
• linux/wayland: tablet cursor started lagging in 2025.220.0 when high precision mode is disabled osu#32025
• [Linux] Lazer randomly loses viewport, with the game still running in the background osu#32015

Someone on the dev discord suggested to me that I should report on the SDL3 linux situation.

These are the envs in my osu lazer .desktop file:
env OSU_SDL3=true PIPEWIRE_LATENCY=256/48000

My setup
I'm on arch linux (Linux 6.18.2-zen2-1-zen) with Hyprland 0.52.2 (Wayland) and sdl3 3.2.28-1
I should also mention that I have disabled the wacom kernel module and use OpenGL (mesa 1:25.3.2-1)

As for the issues, here's a breakdown:

1. linux/wayland: tablet cursor started lagging in 2025.220.0 when high precision mode is disabled osu#32025 seems not to lag when turned ON or OFF, but when it's ON the tablet's input is absent.
2. [Linux] Lazer randomly loses viewport, with the game still running in the background osu#32015 I don't recommend running games as a flatpak. The AppImage didn't have this issue as far as I can remember.
3. [Linux] After clicking, lazer occasionally freezes until I press/click a key osu#32068 now I don't have random freezes because of pressed buttons. I always thought it was a performance related issue.
4. [Linux] Unable to directly write non-latin characters into text boxes. osu#32058 I typed in Cyrillic in the beatmap selection and online chat by configuring my keyboard to use the RU layout.
5. Linux - osu!lazer makes my system freeze osu#32044 I think I experienced this a few times, but now it's fine.
6. [Linux/wayland] cursor doesn't move when using tablet. osu#31948 definitely moves as I've been playing with tablet on wayland (with absolute mode in otd) for a few months.

I would love to try a debug version of osu lazer with SDL3 enabled by default to compare it to the env that I set.
Feel free to compile it as an AppImage or teach me how to build it myself.

Setting envvar should have the same effect as building with SDL3 enabled.
