Thonny 5.0.0 is out

Hi everyone!

A quick test on the super new Thonny 5.0.0 release, on Linux, with the "current" plug-in, as installed from PyPI, it worked the same as on 4.1.7. I should try testing on Windows this week, possibly Tuesday at Sesc!

The about box fails, which is old news...

...fixed by thonny_py5mode-0.5.0rc1.tar.gz

I also tried py5-0.10.10a6.tar.gz and it work fine on Linux.

A quick test on Windows 10 Pro with the current plug-in didn't go very well... but installing https://github.com/user-attachments/files/22059052/thonny_py5mode-0.5.0rc1.tar.gz fixed it!

• I download and unzipped the Thonny 5.0.0 portable
• I installed the plug-in from the plug-in manager
• After a few Thonny restarts, JAVA_HOME was set at the options panel:

But I was unable to run an imported mode sketch or import py5, on the shell:

After installing manually thonny_py5mode-0.5.0rc1.tar.gz and restarting Thonny, clicking on the imported mode for py5 menu
it all worked.

Note how the JAVA_HOME target is slightly different.

@hx2A if you and @tabreturn can test it on some Macs, I think it might be a good idea to release the new plug-in. The recent work by @GoToLoop seems make all the difference.

Excellent, I'd be thrilled to release the new plugin. Releasing that along with the latest version of py5 would be a great achievement.

I am away on a trip but have my MacOS machine here. I'll have some time to do some Thonny testing.
