This issue has been fixed in #1650

These are the commands that worked for me, posted in an another issue thread.

First remove the old version.
Mac: rm "$(brew --prefix)/bin/ani-cli"
Linux: sudo rm "/usr/local/bin/ani-cli"
iOS ISH: rm "usr/local/bin/ani-cli"

Then to clone the branch with JustChokingAround's fix.
Mac:
git clone "https://github.com/justchokingaround/ani-cli.git" -b "allanime-fix" && cd ./ani-cli
cp ./ani-cli "$(brew --prefix)"/bin
cd .. && rm -rf ./ani-cli

Linux:
git clone "https://github.com/justchokingaround/ani-cli.git" -b "allanime-fix"
sudo cp ani-cli/ani-cli /usr/local/bin
rm -rf ani-cli

iOS ISH:
git clone "https://github.com/justchokingaround/ani-cli.git" -b "allanime-fix" ~/.ani-cli
cp ~/.ani-cli/ani-cli /usr/local/bin/ani-cli
chmod +x /usr/local/bin/ani-cli
rm -rf ~/.ani-cli

Windows Terminal (Scoop only):
git clone -b allanime-fix https://github.com/justchokingaround/ani-cli.git ani-cli-fix
cd .\ani-cli-fix
Copy-Item .\ani-cli (Join-Path (scoop prefix ani-cli) 'ani-cli') -Force
scoop reset ani-cli

Lastly run an "ani-cli -V" and it should return 4.12.0, and your back to the races. They just haven't merged the branch yet, so the auto updater doesn't give you the new branch version.

Windows command is not working here. Still on 4.11. Here is what it returns:

fatal: destination path 'ani-cli-fix' already exists and is not an empty directory.
bash: cd: .ani-cli-fix: No such file or directory
bash: syntax error near unexpected token `('
Resetting ani-cli (4.11).
Linking ~\scoop\apps\ani-cli\current => ~\scoop\apps\ani-cli\4.11

extra edit, never-mind, I am an ignoramus. Looking for a solution now.

Final Edit: Windows refuses to function or allow me to do what I want to do. Gonna need a Windows guru on this one.
The only thing I could think of, maybe be to run " rm ani-cli-fix " before running the command set given above.
Possibility that folder already existed for some reason, and was just never removed, so there's nothing to copy.

  I'm going back to Mac/Linux now, where my puny brain is safe. : }

The following code worked on Win11, through admin powershell (not git bash):

git clone -b allanime-fix https://github.com/justchokingaround/ani-cli.git ani-cli-fix cd .\ani-cli-fix Copy-Item .\ani-cli (Join-Path (scoop prefix ani-cli) 'ani-cli') -Force scoop reset ani-cli

Edit: I just realized the code is exact the same, so the problem is that it has to be through powershell, not git bash like I was doing.

Sup guys, I am using Windows and if anyone still not getting ani-cli or getting new errors like:

/bin/bash: C:\Users\Sunny\scoop\apps\ani-cli\current\ani-cli: No such file or directory

after running:

git clone -b allanime-fix https://github.com/justchokingaround/ani-cli.git ani-cli-fix
cd .\ani-cli-fix
Copy-Item .\ani-cli (Join-Path (scoop prefix ani-cli) 'ani-cli') -Force
scoop reset ani-cli
ani-cli --version

Explanation

Basically these commands overwrite the installed file ani-cli in the Scoop app directory with this version:

So you can just manually do that if you're confused with commands.

Fix for the Error

If after running scoop reset you still get:

\scoop\apps\ani-cli\current\ani-cli: No such file or directory

Then:

1. Go to:
   scoop\shims

2. Open:
   ani-cli.cmd

3. Replace its contents with:

If Git is installed normally:

@echo off
"C:\Program Files\Git\bin\bash.exe" "%USERPROFILE%\scoop\apps\ani-cli\current\ani-cli" %*

If Git is installed via Scoop:

@"%GIT_INSTALL_ROOT%\bin\bash.exe" "%~dp0\..\apps\ani-cli\current\ani-cli" %*

Alternative (Manual Fix)

If you don’t want to deal with commands:

• Just download the ani-cli file from:
  https://github.com/justchokingaround/ani-cli

• Replace it manually in:
  \scoop\apps\ani-cli\current

Notes

it works, i am not fan of installing full repo and doing those commands. if you prefer manual fix just replace ani-cli file from justchokingaround/ani-cli to \scoop\apps\ani-cli\current dir it works anyways.
