Is there a way to exclude particular categories from the main RSS feed in my posts listing page?

I know I can make single-category feeds, but this is the opposite. Say I have a puzzles category where I post my daily results. People who are interested in my photographs are unlikely to want to see that.

Is it possible in the YAML for the listing page?

I thought that was for inclusion only.

So if I use categories: [cat1,cat2,...,cat20] wouldn't I get 20 different feeds? What I want is for 19 of my 20 categories to have 1 common feed, and to always exclude cat12

What I would like is to say something like

feed:
   categories:
     exclude: "cat12"
