bug: side bar group expands when side bar is collapsed

Describe the bug
Side bar groups incorrectly expand when a submenu item becomes the active page while the side bar is collapsed.

Expected behaviour
Side bar groups should remain collapsed when the side bar itself is collapsed, even when a submenu item in the group becomes the active page.
