Try-catch snippet is being nested on autocompletion

This is actually a feature of VS Code. It's not very well documented :\ but pretty cool.

What I want is being able to select text, start typing lin (which will of course remove the selection) and then IntelliSense will recommend lin as a completion. When I press enter I want the selection to reappear, surrounded by my snippet.

By typing immediately after selecting a range of text, the text disappears, but in reality what you have signified is that you wish to nest the selected text within the body of the selected snippet (if the snippet defines the correct placeholder variable). If you wish to replace the selected text with the snippet, I think you have to explicitly use Backspace or Delete.

Well, that's quite a counter-intuitive feature. I'm closing the issue and keeping it for future reference in case others are stuck in the same.

Yeah, I was almost convinced this was a bug on our end as well. It's definitely not intuitive unless you really think about wanting such a feature. It's the kind of thing that would have been better guarded by a setting.
