Great work on getting this feature into yarn! 👍
I will wait with any changes on the npm side or with removing the token until I've seen this working for publishing this week's beta.

I made it work in Yarn, released as 4.10
https://github.com/yarnpkg/berry/releases/tag/%40yarnpkg%2Fcli%2F4.10.0
We can now remove the token and make the NPM settings stricter.
