• I have searched the Inference issues and found no similar bug report.

Bug

Problem

Model ID fb1f98b0fe7423b1795a8ad02f6cb9fb appears to be corrupted.
It is being reused across multiple projects, which should not happen.

What I Tried

• Moved dataset to a new project (had to do it in batches due to Roboflow limitations)
• Re-ran training and inference
• Tested across different environments

Issue

Multiple projects end up referencing the same model ID, and it consistently fails.

Reproduction Steps

1. Create a new project
2. Upload dataset (in batches if needed)
3. Train or load model
4. Observe same model ID reused and failing

Impact

Blocking progress — cannot properly train or call models.

Environment

• Workspace: soccertracking-wtqqu
• Tested on: Local inference SDK + Hosted API
• First observed: Several weeks ago

Ok, thanks - looks like a bug in our model upload pipeline.
We will take a look, yet that would take some time.
We will just try to fix the two models (key_point_detector_3/1, new_keypoint_detector/20) manually

Can you share what was your model upload procedure? I guess you tried roboflow-python? (if pasting commands you executed, please mask out your API key)

Hi Grzegorz, Thanks for the response. Yes, I used the Roboflow Python SDK to upload the dataset. My workflow was: - I annotated the dataset (930 images with a 32-point keypoint skeleton) - Then I uploaded the images and annotations using roboflow-python - After that, I generated a version and trained the model through the Roboflow dashboard (500 epochs) Initially, I trained a model under new_keypoint_detector/20, where I first encountered the error. To rule out project-specific issues, I created a new project (key_point_detector_3) and repeated the process (upload → version → train), which produced key_point_detector_3/1. However, when calling inference on both models using the Python SDK, I get the same error: ModelPackageAlternativesExhaustedError, referencing model package ID fb1f98b0fe7423b1795a8ad02f6cb9fb. Inference call: from inference import get_model API_KEY = "<secret>" model = get_model(model_id="key_point_detector_3/1", api_key=API_KEY) The error happens on the get_model call. I was able to reproduce your error, it's not related to inference but to our model registry service. We have relevant people looking into issue you reported and should have a fix shortly! I will report back here once fixes are deployed.

Can you confirm what files you included in model upload when you was uploading your trained models? Specifically I'm looking to understand what was the file in which you included keypoints metadata.

Hello, sorry for the lateness. I trained and deployed the model following this YouTube tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBVGKoNZQUw (starting at 57:00). I followed the same steps for both training and deployment. Originally it was working fine with a smaller dataset (300 images). The issue started when I increased the number of keypoints and retrained with more data. After that, when I try to load the model using get_model(), I get an error about missing metadata.json on model package id. I also tried creating a brand new project to rule out any corruption, but the same error persists.
