Thanks for the PR. There are additional changes like "peer": true which shouldn't be there (gets removed again when I run npm i). What OS and version of Node + npm did you use?

It's an issue with npm 11.6.2 (npm/cli#8645), I can reproduce it with this version. Can you update npm to 11.6.3 or above and run the command again?

Good find! I upgraded to latest NPM and ran npm install. The result is in 7084035. Looks like they fixed it! 😁
