Background is missing in exported videos, causing them to appear black instead of displaying the intended background.

in openscreen, when i choose the predefined image from the software as my video background, i found it black when i see the exported video

I have the same issue with background not displaying

I was unable to reproduce this on my machine. I ran OpenScreen directly from the repo via npm run dev on the main branch (commit e7d5f51).

Environment:

• Windows 11 Pro (Build 22631)
• Node 24.14.1 / npm 11.11.0 / Electron 39.2.7

Backgrounds (solid color, gradient, and image wallpapers) all rendered correctly in the exported video for me. Happy to help debug further if there are specific reproduction steps.

it works normaly on color and gradient but not using background wallpapers

@selmamehdi48 We still need some basic info to debug this — we can't reproduce it on our end.

1. How are you running OpenScreen? From a packaged release/installer, or from source (npm run dev)? Version/commit?
2. What's your OS version? (e.g., Windows 11 Home 23H2)
3. Console errors: Open the app, go to View → Toggle Developer Tools in the menu bar (or press
   Ctrl+Shift+I), click the Console tab, then do the export with an image wallpaper. Screenshot
   whatever appears in that console panel and paste it here.

@abres33 I meet the same problem.

Q1: I install it by the released packages, and the version is 1.3.0.

Q2: macOS 26.4.1 (25E253)

OS: Manjaro 26.0.4
Kernel: 6.12.77-1-MANJARO
Desktop environment: KDE with Wayland

I ran the App Image downloaded 2026-04-13. I believe this to be 1.3.0.
This was done by:

./Openscreen-Linux-latest.appimage --appimage-extract 
cd squashfs-root
./openscreen --ozone-platform=x11

The reason I had to extract the appimage and run with x11 is because I got a lot of errors otherwise (#157 (comment)).

To be clear, the background image shows just fine when editing, not just in the export.

When opening dev tools and doing a force reload I saw the following interesting bit. It actually requested all the wallpaper images twice, because it failed the first time. The request URLs were slightly different though:

Req 1 (404): file:///wallpapers/wallpaper1.jpg
Req 2 (200): file:///home/erikn/Applications/Openscreen/squashfs-root/resources/assets/wallpapers/wallpaper1.jpg

So I'm guessing this could be a path-issue that perhaps affects the export?

ooh this is interesting - will take a closer look when I get a chance. I suspect file paths are not resolving deterministically.
