Support Node 24 for runners

Summary

Action runners now support node24: actions/runner#3940! 🎉

We might want to update to this version in an upcoming release, though I'm not sure if node20 is being soon deprecated?

Node20 will reach end-of-life (EOL) in April of 2026. As a result we have started the deprecation process of Node20 for GitHub Actions. We plan to migrate all actions to run on Node24 in the fall of 2025.

Node.js 20 actions are deprecated. The following actions are running on Node.js 20 and may not work as expected: slackapi/slack-github-action@v2. Actions will be forced to run with Node.js 24 by default starting June 2nd, 2026. Please check if updated versions of these actions are available that support Node.js 24. To opt into Node.js 24 now, set the FORCE_JAVASCRIPT_ACTIONS_TO_NODE24=true environment variable on the runner or in your workflow file. Once Node.js 24 becomes the default, you can temporarily opt out by setting ACTIONS_ALLOW_USE_UNSECURE_NODE_VERSION=true. 👋 An update to the changelog now includes dates of migrations for runners - thanks @thebluetiger:

Beginning on June 2nd, 2026, runners will begin using Node24 by default.

The latest runner versions support both node20 and node24 at this time so we're alright to make this update, albeit as a breaking change. We have plans for adjacent changes that'll be nice to include too I think.

Let's open an issue to discuss what else might be included which might include slackapi/node-slack-sdk#2534 landing. I'll share this soon 💌
