The plugins in the <SOFA_build>/plugins are not appearing in plugin_list.conf.

The plugins in the <SOFA_build>/plugins are not appearing in the <SOFA_build>/lib/plugin_list.conf. It seems that I can not uses those plugins that are not in plugin_list.conf even though they are in the plugins folder. For example, I can only open .pycsn and .py file after I add SofaPython3 NO_VERSION in the list. Does this mean I can only use the plugins in the SOFA_build>/plugins folder by adding them into plugin_list.conf. one by one?

TO be frank, why is the plugins folder is not auto scanned by the Plugin Manager?

Hello,

Have you set the SOFA_ROOT environment variable ? It needs to be set with the path to the build folder. This helps the plugin manager to find plugins.

Yes I have set the SOFA_ROOT environment variable with the path to the build folder, but the Plugin Manager still can not find the plugins. (eg. sofa still can not open .py files unless I add SofaPython3 into the list manually.)

Yes, SofaPython3 is a very particular plugin, it in not added automatically to the list. If you want to load it without modifying the list you can call runSofa this way:
runSofa -lSofaPython3 yourScene.py

But if you don't want to do this each time, you just need to open the GUI once but running runSofa, and in the pluginManager tool you need to add the lib manually. Once it has been added it will be autoloaded every time after that.

Thank you so much. I have added all the plugins in the plugin folder into the plugin_list.conf, and now it can open .py files. However I have another question regarding to the plugins. In the example code of creating a cube and a floor (/SoftRobots/share/sofa/examples/SoftRobots/tutorials/FirstSteps/details/step3.py), the code is:

in this code, the programme doesn't work. What is the meaning of pluginList=[]? Why do I still need this part in my code when I have already added the plugins into the plugin_list.conf?

pluginList aims at creating a list of plugins to be loaded by SOFA
If the same plugins are in your plugin_list.conf AND if you are running this scene from runSofa (not a native Python env) you should not need it, indeed.
