srcJar seems broken when using Gradle 8.13

It looks like the jar files download doesn't work with Gradle 8.13, there doesn't seem to be any errors in the logs mentioning a jar download issue, it's just that the proto classes aren't generated.

project.file(jar)

Starting from gradle 8.13 project.file(jar) returns file when dependency id string is passed and it considers it as file, and not jar.

Apologise for the lack of response. We're aware of the problem.
A fix would be to define dependencies in the version catalog

@oldergod We generate those dependencies dynamically so we can not use version catalog. Is there another way to solve this?

This PR appear to be the culprit maybe combined with some Gradle changes in 8.13?
