feat: use Tansu as a real dependency to ensure alignment with the API

We definitely need to circle back to this! In Q3 (or just: once we've completed all our Q2 goals) we need to start using Tansu as a dependency, rather than copy-pasting. Can you make an issue so we don't forget?
