Description

@danielbentes

Context

There is no formal certification mechanism for agents to demonstrate conformance with the standard. A tiered certification program would create adoption incentives and provide trust signals for enterprise buyers. (Roadmap Section 4.3)

Objective

Establish a formal certification program with graduated levels, automated testing, and a public registry of certified agents.

Tasks

  • Define Level 1 (Grounded): L2 conformance, checkpoint-before-mutation
  • Define Level 2 (Auditable): L3 conformance, evidence lineage, audit trails
  • Define Level 3 (Safe): L4 conformance, recovery loops, adversarial testing
  • Build certification toolkit with automated test harness
  • Build certification registry with public listing of certified agents
  • Define annual recertification process aligned with standard version updates

Acceptance Criteria

  • Three certification levels are formally defined with clear requirements
  • Automated test harness can evaluate agents against certification criteria
  • Public registry lists certified agents with their certification level and expiry date
  • Recertification process is documented and automated
